Teaspoons x Royal Palm Vintage

royal

On Monday, July 11th, I had the pleasure of visiting a brand new Vintage boutique in the Hintonburg area called Royal Palm Vintage. I was asked to style and “model” a few pieces for their instagram with my friend.
My first impression of the space is that it’s unique and different than any other vintage store I’ve ever been in. The concrete details with open-exposed ceilings give the space an industrial- modern feel.
It is a beautiful space with funky and fun decor, and it is a place where you don’t feel overwhelmed by product. I find this is a good thing when thrift shopping or vintage hunting because it can be easy to give up and walk away. However, at Royal Palm, everything is separated by style so you have an area of more casual wear, and then some fancier items etc.

The owner, Rebecca, is very friendly, welcoming, and has an eye for picking unique and special items. This makes you want to stay longer and have a chat all while looking for that piece that’s meant to be found just by you.
A piece i was drawn to was this “Toronto” tee. I decided to go out of my comfort zone and style it with another baby pink item. An added bonus is that these pants are Ralph Lauren (queue Rachel from Friends fan girl moment). Overall this is a comfortable and casual outfit that stands out from the ordinary

The second look was styled around this GORGEOUS Betsy Johnson skirt (that I ended up taking home with me). I love how the purse adds a pop of color and makes certain details on the skirt stand out, plus, the jean jacket makes the whole outfit casual and daytime appropriate. However, you could take it off and add a dressy top and you’d be good to go for a classy and elegant evening look.

This concludes part 1 of my collaboration with Royal Palm vintage.
Stay tuned for pt 2!
In the mean time go ahead and check out the boutique and everything it has to offer, if you do, let them know I sent you over!

Big thanks to Rebecca for being so kind and having me and Sonya for being my partner in styling and an awesome photographer.

Against the plain: Pt. 8

Here we are again against my plain backdrop! I’m forced to be a little more boring when no one can shoot my look.
Today I chose to throw on a simple black dress with a jean shirt for an added layer and warmth since it’s not too warm in the country’s capital at the moment.
On my feet I’m wearing my newest favorite purchase; some swedish hasbeens clogs ❤
I was doubtful at first because I didn’t know how much wear I’d get out of such a unique shoe but I’m finding myself being able to wear them with pretty much anything!

Have yourselves a great weekend. xo

Sporty Chic

This is my version of a sporty- chic look.
The nike items mixed with a sleek bomber jacket and tight skirt make this outfit appropriate for day to night, you can simply throw on some strappy heels and you’re good to go!

Happy weekend. ox

All about the cape

What better way to procrastinate writing your 10 page paper on seal harvesting than to write a blog post about an OOTD?!
As the title says, this look is all about the cape! It was given to me by one of my closest friends who wasn’t getting use out of it and it’s a gem.
I thought I’d pair it with a skirt so that it would just peak out of the cape with my turtle neck showing on top as well.
This look is a little out of the ordinary for me, which is what I love.

Happy Tuesday,
Exam season has finally arrived upon us, and the snow has yet to dissipate, so this is my comfortable monochromatic outfit of the day for these hard times. *dramatic*
The top and bottom total 40$ combined, which I’m quite proud of. It always pays off to check sale sections!

I wish you all luck on exams, and a good day.

Birthday OOTN

Happy Friday friends!

Here’s what I wore on my 22nd birthday a couple of weeks ago to go out and dance with friends.
I have never felt more “me” in a dress. And it’s not even black!!
I felt beautiful and classy in this burnt orange piece.
I paired this fun and flowy dress with my trusty 4 year old Jeffrey Campbell litas to give me height. They’re surprisingly the comfiest heels I own despite the how tall  they are.

shoutout to Laurier Lachance for the photography.

A shoot with YOWcitystyle

Last Friday I had the pleasure to meet with a lovely blogger who goes by the name of “YOWcitystyle”. The idea behind the blog/Instagram is to show off the street style of Ottawa while promoting local areas.

I decided to shout out the tea party cafe in the market because the atmosphere is cozy and calm and they have a great variety of tea and vegetarian snacks. I do my best work for school when I’m there.

For my outfit I wanted to do something a little out of my comfort zone with the long lines and baggy layers.

A walk on Queen St W.

So far this week has been crazy, I studied for a ridiculous amount of time and I’ve completed three midterms. I’m glad they’re done with although I can’t help but to wish I was still on vacation in Toronto. Instead all I have left of my trip are my great memories and a couple of pictures to look back on. This look was fun to shoot with my S\O on our last day in TO (thanks again bae). I’m particularly fond of this outfit because of the statement burnt orange jacket. It’s not something I’d usually go for but it was an amazing deal in the sale section at Zara so I thought it would be a great and unique piece to add to my collection. I based the rest of my look around the jacket so kept my pants\shoes\hat plain black and the sweater is also muted and doesn’t take attention away from the jacket.

Hello friends, I hope you’re having a lovely Friday!
Today I’m posting a #flashbackfriday to what I wore last Sunday for Love day! (okay okay I know so much for a flashback…)
I didn’t want to go for a typical full red or pink dress for valentines day so instead I opted for this beautiful silk white dress that gives off a romantic yet classy vibe. I threw the duster coat on since I thought the colours complemented each other perfectly and it worked as an added layer for warmth.
I chose a bold dark red lip instead of my go-to nude for some more drama.
As for jewelry I wanted to keep it very minimal as the focus is on the jacket so I threw on my beautiful silver chain that my boyfriend generously gifted to me for the special day ❤ (thanks bae).
And that’s it!
Wishing you all a happy weekend.
