Turning a new leaf…

OHHH HAPPY DAYS!
Fall time has finally come to grace us with it’s presence. And I couldn’t be more thankful for that as the crisp fall weather brings me life and fills my heart with an odd sense of comfort and depth.
Probably has a little something to do with the fact that Halloween and dressing up is one of my favorite things human’s have come up with. And I love me some warm drinks while being bundled up in cozy sweaters.
Other than that;
I’ve been gone for a little so let’s catch up…
After my wonderful and life altering trip to Spain I took a break from blogging and started questioning why I was even doing this, for who, if I was even enjoying it, what for, etc.
Pretty much I started doubting myself and being a little negative. Sometimes I felt like I NEEDED to post an outfit and didn’t feel motivated or in a creative spirit. So I took a break.

In the time I’ve been gone, a lot has happened to me and my surroundings.
But life is full of surprises and lessons and forces you into situations you may not necessarily be ready for.
Everyone loves the quote “everything happens for a reason” and “if it’s meant to be it’ll be”. I don’t even know if I believe that. But I guess it makes people feel better.
People say a lot of inspiring things that have no factual basis to make themselves feel better.
The one thing everyone does say, and that is in fact true, is that life goes on.
It really does!
I’ve been doing what I have to to not fall back on the important things I have going for me; school work, work work, projects, and I even took some me-time this weekend to go to Toronto to visit friends. All while going through the motions of evaluating my life and my goals.
These passed few months my philosophical side had me questioning the purpose of many things and what exactly I wanted to accomplish with myself at the end of it all.
I haven’t had a plan for my future since I decided teaching wasn’t for me in grade 11. However, I’ve always said I don’t know what I want to do, but I know I just want to be happy.
So this is the time to figure out what really makes me happy… I like media, certain aspects of public relations and how one is perceived, fashion (of course), video however… is a newer interest of mine and yet it has surrounded me for many years in different forms. My video 2 class is motivating me and inspiring me to be better and develop more skills in this field.
Even though I still haven’t a clue what my future holds for me, I’m starting to see and what things more than I ever have. And that has to count for something, amirite?
I have a few projects coming up in the near future that I’m quite excited about. And I’m also itching to share with you!
Despite this fever that crept upon me this morning I’m in quite a motivated and inspired mood… can you tell?
Other than the scary matter of “WHAT WILL I DO WITH MY LIFE” I can focus on smaller things that make me happy like my little pointless but not pointless blog.. I will not promise to upload regularly as I’m quite busy with my last semester of university (woooooohhhhhh).
But I will upload when I feel like, and when it makes me happy, because that’s the point of this personal blog now isn’t it?!
Here are a couple of OOTD posts from my instagram that you may have missed:

Follow me here!

I know this post was kind of all over the place and I honestly am just in a chatty-rant-y mood and felt like sharing because it’s been a while.
I hope anyone who’s reading this is doing wonderful, and if you’re not that’s okay too, if you need a friend, I’m here. 🙂

Thanks to anyone who cared to read this, you rock!
Feel free to leave any type of comment of what’s up with you and your thoughts on the pressures us youngin’s having to figure things out fresh outta university.
Have a great Tuesday evening.
Til next time,

Against the plain: Pt. 8

Here we are again against my plain backdrop! I’m forced to be a little more boring when no one can shoot my look.
Today I chose to throw on a simple black dress with a jean shirt for an added layer and warmth since it’s not too warm in the country’s capital at the moment.
On my feet I’m wearing my newest favorite purchase; some swedish hasbeens clogs ❤
I was doubtful at first because I didn’t know how much wear I’d get out of such a unique shoe but I’m finding myself being able to wear them with pretty much anything!

Have yourselves a great weekend. xo

Turtle necks & strappy dresses

A lot of people have style icons who they follow and get their inspiration from, I don’t particularly have a style icon. I simply get inspired by everyone and everything that surrounds me. Having been a retail worker for 4 years, I’ve seen and helped a lot of interesting and stylish people. I fell in love with a look i saw last week where a woman wore a white turtle neck with a strappy dress on top and so i decided to recreate the look with pieces i had in my own closet!
The look is very casual and comfortable.

I hope you all have a happy Wednesday.

It’s Saturday evening, and instead of going out, or spending time with my S-O, I’m sitting here in bed, catching up on an endless list of school work I have to do for this week.
BORRING. I know right?
So I thought I’d take a little break from school work to post a very casual and simple OOTD, something I’d wear to school, or if I wanted to be comfy.
I hold this Calvin Klein tshirt dearly to my heart since it’s the coolest item I’ve ever found at a thrift store. CK items are quite pricey, and I found this bad boy at value village a year ago for 3$ (instead of 55$ online). It was a bargain  I couldn’t pass up.
I don’t usually opt for converse, but I thought they complemented the casual look and I liked how a low, slim sneaker looked with my jeans cuffed up.

That’s it for me, I wish good luck to all my fellow people struggling through the last months of school before summer. We’re almost there!!

A shoot with YOWcitystyle

Last Friday I had the pleasure to meet with a lovely blogger who goes by the name of “YOWcitystyle”. The idea behind the blog/Instagram is to show off the street style of Ottawa while promoting local areas.

I decided to shout out the tea party cafe in the market because the atmosphere is cozy and calm and they have a great variety of tea and vegetarian snacks. I do my best work for school when I’m there.

For my outfit I wanted to do something a little out of my comfort zone with the long lines and baggy layers.

Shoes: aldo (as always)
Pants and jacket: Zara
Necklace and shirt: oak and Fort

Hello friends, I hope you’re having a lovely Friday!
Today I’m posting a #flashbackfriday to what I wore last Sunday for Love day! (okay okay I know so much for a flashback…)
I didn’t want to go for a typical full red or pink dress for valentines day so instead I opted for this beautiful silk white dress that gives off a romantic yet classy vibe. I threw the duster coat on since I thought the colours complemented each other perfectly and it worked as an added layer for warmth.
I chose a bold dark red lip instead of my go-to nude for some more drama.
As for jewelry I wanted to keep it very minimal as the focus is on the jacket so I threw on my beautiful silver chain that my boyfriend generously gifted to me for the special day ❤ (thanks bae).
And that’s it!
Wishing you all a happy weekend.
